The Texas Legislature passed SB 1230 in 2021 establishing the Commission on Community College Finance.
The Commission wroked to establish recommendations for a state funding formula that creates sufficient funding levels for sustaining community college education throughout the state of Texas (see two-pager).
NCHEMS analyzed a variety of data and prepared presentation graphics to support decision-making, participated in workgroup meetings, and prepared options regarding ways to structure components of alternative funding models that will specifically address state goals and priority issues identified by the workgroups. We also developed a list of data required to build a model that allowed the workgroup to explore the results of employing different funding options.
