Meet NCHEMS’ New Senior Associate

The National Center for Higher Education Management Systems (NCHEMS) welcomes our newest senior associate, Nancy Stalowski, to the team this September. As a senior associate, Stalowski will lead and support data-driven projects that inform higher education policy. She’ll play a key role in project design, research, and communication, bringing both analytic rigor and strategic thinking to advance NCHEMS’ mission.

“I am excited to join NCHEMS because advancing student success requires higher education systems sustained by collaboration among states and other stakeholders in building robust, affordable public systems.” said Stalowski. “Working at NCHEMS allows me to contribute to strategic, data-informed decision-making at the state and system level, which will help remove systemic barriers to student success.”

Stalowski joins NCHEMS with a long career as a researcher and educator, focusing on helping students facing barriers to success. She most recently served as the director of diagnostics & data analytics at FirstGen Forward (formerly The Center for First-generation Student Success). In this role, Stalowski managed portfolios of various projects, including first-generation research and data analysis focused on the FirstGen Forward Network’s diagnostic tools. Before FirstGen Forward, she served as the executive director of the Public Leadership Education Network (PLEN), where she supported the organization’s mission, focusing on preparing college women for leadership in public policy.

She earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and government and policy, and a Master of Arts in history, from the University of Maryland, College Park. Stalowski also earned a Doctor of Education in higher education administration from George Washington University.

NCHEMS Vice President Sarah Pingel said, “We are pleased to welcome Nancy Stalowski to the NCHEMS team. Nancy’s focus on student success will be an asset to NCHEMS and to our clients and partners as they drive credential attainment amid a dynamic policy and practice environment.”
